Friday morning.

When I called this morning, Aaron was highly chapped because Mom and Kelly were holding up his plans for the day. Apparently, Aaron got up and about this morning at 5 a.m. working to convince his various doctors and nurses that it would be fine for him to get out of the hospital for a day of sightseeing in the Washington, D.C. area. His campaign worked, and he was given permission to go, but when I talked to him, he was waiting on Kelly and Mom to get beautified so they could leave.
"If it were up to me, I would have been out on the streets of D.C. by 6 a.m., Haley, but it's taking the ladies three hours to get dressed," he said.
That made me laugh, because my family's general inability to get anywhere in a hurry or on a deadline is legendary. In fact, my Dad even has a name for it: Lowry Standard Time. Lowry is my mother's maiden name, and my dad has a theory that there is some kind of genetic oddity passed down from that side of the family that takes away all concept of time passing. He might be right, but somehow I think it's probably good that Aaron has someone to slow him down ... it might not be good for him to wander around D.C. for 14 hours straight. He had what sounded like a pretty ambitious agenda for all the monuments and things he wanted to see, and they were getting ready to brave the Metro system to get down to the Capitol. I'm sure there will be tall tales to tell from that adventure, so stay tuned.
Aaron also told me last night that he had his eyes checked out yesterday, and his vision is perfect in both eyes. Actually, in the eye that was injured, he has 20/15 vision, better than perfect. So now he really thinks he is Superman. We're so thankful that his eyes are going to be OK.
I'll check in tonight with the story of their day, and in the meantime, please pray that they stay safe while they're out and about.
Happy Friday.

Haley, I just wanted to drop a comment and tell you how great this website is. My cousin is at MSU and knows Aaron and his wife. She emailed me telling me about Aaron's ordeal and sent me your link. She thought I would like to hear about a fellow soldier. I am currently stationed in Fort Polk, La. with the 1/509th IN ABN (OPFOR) Please tell Aaron he has a bunch of Army paratroopers all praying and thinking about him and all our brothers in harms way. I can tell he will be well taken care of with such a supportive family.

Aaron-
I forgot to tell you yesterday but you look sexy in that picture with your shirt off. Ripped much? Also, you made the front page of The Reflector today. There's an article about you and it mentioned T.C. in there too, so if you are still in touch with him, let him know.
God Bless,
Bo

Haley:

ANDY CHAPMAN! How are you? Click on the link I'm leaving here and shoot me an email ... I can't comment on your site for some reason, but thus far I've learned you're married and getting ready to be a daddy. That makes me feel sooo old. By the way, what RUF site did you find me on? I don't think I'm signed up for any alumni things through RUF's official page, but maybe I'm wrong. We have to catch up.

aaron-
hi, just checking in with you. looking forward to hearing about your trip to washington.

Hey Aaron,

Your MSU political science family was shocked to hear about your injury, but we're just glad that you are alive and recovering. There was a nice story about you in The Reflector, April 1, page 1. Sounds like your buddies did a great job looking after you after the injury. We look forward to seeing you back at MSU. Your Stennis Scholarship is still in effect, and your fellow scholars will enjoy seeing you. We just recruited two additional scholars, and you won't recognize the nice new building that we're in. We also have two computerized classrooms and a new computer lab for our students. See you this Fall.

Hey Haley and Aaron ~ Lowry Time... yeah I know a little bit about that! My dad -though I love him much- is known for not being on time! (*For those of you wondering, my dad is Haley and Aaron's Uncle Mike.) At our family reunions, some family is usually around 2 or 3 hours late! haha... it's great that Aaron got to get out of the hospital. Today I took pictures of Aaron to show my teachers and friends. They were happy to see the family they have been praying for all this time. I also gave the website out a few times for them to come check it out! I love ya'll and hope ya'll have a great day!

Aunt Emily:

Hi Aaron, Kelly and Debbie,
I hope ya'll had a wonderful time exploring Washington. Let us know what you did.
Love, Aunt Emily

C3C Ryan Rayborn:

Aaron,

Hey brother, just checking up on you to see how Washington was today... I've never been there, but I cannot imagine what it must be like to visit such a historic place under the present circumstances. Again, I cannot tell you how proud of you I am and what an awesome testimony this ordeal has created for you, your wife, and those close to you. Your are ministering for the the Lord right now and I praise Him that he would use your circumstances to bless so many. Just be reading the comments on this site (I am a frequent flyer these days) I am amazed at how inspired folks have become after hearing your story and seeing how you are persevering. I once heard a wise man say that "God never wastes a hurt" whether it be emotional or physical. He is definitely no letting your experience fall by the wayside so be proud and remember Ephesians 3:20 which declares that we serve a God who is able "to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think." I know you already know this, but the only thing that will limit you in this world is you own ambition. So keep pushing Mr. President! Look, I know you have been bombarded with cards, emails, and phone #'s, but give me a call sometime (601-299-0913) and we will relive some of the football glory days! I love you brother, and I've got just about every cadet at USAFA praying for ya!

In Him

Rachel Hutton:

Hey Aaron and Kelly!

I have been trying to keep up with everything that is happening there. Aaron, I am so thankful and impressed that you are doing so well. The Lord is truly watching over y'all. Kelly, you have been such an amazing example of a faithful and loving wife. Your email to everyone was so sweet and touching. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

SDI SSGT FLANAGAN:

LCPL Rice,

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for coming in and talking to my platoon. We spent 1 1/2 talking about you and what you had just talked to them about. My entire platoon was totally awestruck by your story. Again, I am proud of you Marine.
