All set.

My big accomplishment for the week is that I have gotten all caught up on my Harry Potter reading and am now ready for the release of the final book on Saturday. Since there are a couple of years between books, I always have to go back and read the last one so that I can actually remember what it was I wanted to know so badly when the last book was over. But now I remember. Oh, yes, I remember, Snape.

A few days ago, my dad called me up to ask me if I had gone to see the Harry Potter "Order of the Phoenix" movie yet. The mere fact that my dad knows who Harry Potter is is testament to the fact that my younger sister, Audrey, is a complete fanatic about these books, kind of the strung-out junkie to my relatively casual user. I am proud to say that I am the one who gave her her first Harry Potter book. (So I guess in this analogy, I would be her drug dealer.) I told Dad that yes, I took myself to see the Order of the Phoenix movie one recent evening. I was not that impressed with the movie, but I wasn't as upset as Audrey, who later gave me a passionate rundown of all the ways in which the movie was just terribly, unforgivably wrong. Not that I've never gotten all bent out of shape about the movie rendition of one of my favorite books. Remember this?

But movie or not, it's the new book that's really important now. Since the last time that one of the books came out, Audrey and I have also gotten our sister Hannah to start reading Harry Potter. So what this means for Dan, Cade and Daniel, the significant others of the Rice girls, is that they had better go out and get some plans of their own this weekend. Because we have a hot date with Harry Potter.

Anyone else getting excited?

A trustworthy groomsman is picking up our copies on the wedding day so that we don't miss out on any Potterific plot developments. We feel like it would be rude not to invite our favorite fictional wizard to be a part of our budding marriage experience.

As for the movies, they really are not much more than a whetting of the appetite for book 7. I wonder if the movies will be as popular in the sixth and seventh installments once the book series has been completely ingested by the masses.

Speaking of ingestion, you had best figure out the next big "fix" if you want your new family pharmacy practice to persist beyond Saturday. I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy if you need any help with that.

In honor of the last Harry Potter book coming out, I reread all six books earlier this summer. It took me 2 1/2 weeks, and it was so much fun. It definitely got me pumped for this last book. I already told Andy that he is in charge of Joey for the weekend.

i already bought the book. looking forward to saturday. and the latest movie let me down as well. hope things are going good out west.

Please forgive me but I actually really enjoyed the film - perhaps because it's been a while since I read the books? Can't WAIT for the last book. Is it really all going to be over soon?

Finished the reread of 6 on Tuesday, and have been giddily waiting ever since. Every so often C or I pop out with a random "I wonder if Snape blah, blah, blah" or "will Harry blah, blah, blah?" The buzz.

We read them out loud together. It may sound like a sweet thing for a married couple to do, but it's not. It's a dreadfully competitive thing--we do it so that one won't know what happens before the other. heh, heh.

My sister and I are going to a Midnight Madness party tonight. We were going to dress up (at least paint scars), but we realized that would prompt more than one "so... were you... homeschooled?" and it wasn't worth it. We're pretty excited. I decided to start reading the books again three days ago, but I don't think I'll be able to finish the next five by tonight, so I'll just rely on my trusty memory of my last two readings of HPatHBP. Wow, this comment is a lot longer than I meant it to be.
